Do Now: Have you ever moved to a different house or school? What was different about how you needed to act or communicate in this new place or school?
Critical Thinking Question: How do we learn to participate in different communities? How do people assimilate into different countries? Can anyone fully become a member of another cultural community?

Objective: To continue inquiry into how groups of people have been forced to assimilate or integrate into another culture. What instances have led people to need to integrate? How do people learn to act and communicate in this new culture?
Class Activities: Investigate cultural differences between China and America, Listing cultural differences, writing short paragraph story of a time when you had a multicultural experience. What was different? Eating, Playing, Speaking, Dressing, Dancing
Homework: Have a conversation with your parent or guardian about your family’s culture. You can ask: “What is our culture?” “What does our culture mean to our family?”
