Works Cited and In-Text Citation


MLA Format
(You must reference all of your sources throughout your writing so that you give credit to other people’s research and ideas.)

Books:

Lastname, Firstname. Title of Book. Place of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication.

Book Example:

Wordsworth, William. Lyrical Ballads. London: Oxford U.P., 1967.

Periodicals & Newspapers:

Author(s). "Title of Article." Title of Periodical or Newspaper Day Month Year: page numbers.

Periodical Example:

Poniewozik, James. "TV Makes a Too-Close Call." Time 20 Nov. 2000: 70-71.

Newspaper Example:

Brubaker, Bill. "New Health Center Targets County's Uninsured Patients." Washington Post 24

May 2007: LZ01.

Therefore, when you find a book, magazine, or newspaper you need to copy down the citation information and page numbers from the book that you use!

Websites/Electronic Sources:

Author (if available). “Article Name” (if available). Date of your Access. Complete URL.

Websites/Electronic Sources Example:

"How to Make Vegetarian Chili." 24 Feb. 2009.
http://www.ehow.com/how_10727_make-vegetarian-chili.html

Non-Print Sources: (For example: Movie Documentary, News Channel, TV show)

TV Show or News Channel Name. Date of Your Viewing.

Movie Director. “Movie Documentary Name.” Year of Film.

IN-TEXT Example: (How do I cite DURING my writing?)
