Objective: SWBAT reflect on their own reactions to Trayvon Martin in relation to the father’s.

Agenda:

  • Do now and discussion.
  • Hand out Inquiries about Trayvon: How did we respond? Describe the responses. How could you characterize these questions and comments? (On one side of sheet.)
    • What do these questions and comments say about us? What feelings, perspectives, and life experiences do we bring?
  • Watch response of Trayvon’s father. How did he respond? Describe his response. How could you characterize his response? (On opposite side of sheet.)
  • On back of sheet: In  today’s world, how do you think we should respond to news about race?
  • Watch video on critical thinking. Which kind of thinker are you? How does this relate to our reactions?
