Do Now: If you could do anything you wanted instead of going to school, what would you do and where would you go?

Homework: Vocabulary assignment: Find a word that you want to learn in your world. Write it down, where you heard it or saw it, and what it means.

Inquiry: Does school develop or hinder creativity? Does school label people and put them in a box? Or, does school promote individuality?

Objective: SWBAT consider their own creativity and individuality as a student in school.

Agenda:

  • Do now discussion.
  • Explain homework assignment.
  • Part A: Describe how you think teachers and administrators see you in school.
  • Part B: Draw how you think teachers and administrators see you in school.
  • What does it mean to be labeled? What are examples of labels we see in school?
  • Reading “The Revolt of the Evil Fairies.”
  • Part C 1: What is a label that this boy experiences? How is he trying to overcome this label?
  • Part C 2: Describe one way in which you can relate to the main character or another character in the story.
  • Time to work on your School Speeches.
